So handy to know! White balance for a jpeg file in Lightroom

I wrote about the advantages of shooting in RAW previously on this blog

One of the advantages is that you can easily change the white balance of your picture in Lightroom. For me, this is one of the reasons to shoot in RAW instead of in JPEG.

When shooting in JPEG you don't have all those white balance settings available in Lightroom. But there is a way to actually use those settings for a JPEG picture. Read on and it'll all be revealed!

This is how it works:
  1. Start Lightroom and select an image you shot in RAW.
  2. Change the white balance to Daylight.
  3. Go to the preset panel on the left side and click on Create New Preset
  4. Now check the white balance
  5. Choose New folder and call it White balance
  6. Don't forget to save it
Now you know how to do this for all the other white balances: creating a folder with white balance presets which you can use for your JPEG pictures.

I grant you, it's not as good as RAW, but it does give OK results if you ask me.
